Darren Mason
Darren Mason biography

A full time SEN teaching assistant with a passion for participatory animation.
I studied a BTEC in art and design at Grimsby Institute of further and higher education, during this time I started playing around with stop motion animation.
I then moved down to Wrexham where I studied a BA (HONS) in animation at Glyndwr University and as well as stop motion, I started experimenting with other methods including cut out, hand drawn and pastels.
As part of my Masters, I started setting up animation workshops and I found them to be both enjoyable and beneficial to participants and myself. The workshops allowed participants to develop skills in team work, problem solving and confidence building.
I have worked with schools and local communities with a diverse range of participants from primary aged children up to adult learners.
As well as animation I enjoy sketching and lino printing.
