Jeanette Deen biography
Jeanette’s work focuses on the glamorisation of the glamour modelling and sex industry.
In recent years the media has promoted lap dancing and the glamour modelling industry as a new career move for women, where big money and fame can be easily gained.
Her work explores the realities and the lives of women who have chosen that career path. She has been lucky enough to have been allowed unguarded access to different lap dancing clubs across the West Midlands. When entering these clubs, the first thing that stuck her was the lack of glamour. The words smoke and mirrors come to mind. This piece of work reflects that meaning.
Jeanette works as lecturer in art and design and as an archiver, while also curating exhibitions and working collaboratively with communities.
Jeanette teaches Life Drawing.
