Learn traditional ceramic techniques like slab building, coiling, and applying coloured slips, then experiment with aboriginal inspired decoration to create your own Oceania inspired pottery.
Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to all levels and no previous experience is required. The course may be accessible for people with disabilities. You do need dexterity in your hands to work with the clay and the tools. Students may bring their own Carer or support worker. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
What will you learn on this course?
During the course participants will make a ceramic item and will gain basic ceramic skills. You will learn and use slab hand built method and coloured slip decorations. Participants will be able to design and make their own creation with the support and expertise of the tutor inspired by Aboriginal or other Oceania islander decorations.
Do you need to bring anything?
You don’t need to bring anything. All materials and equipment is provided.
Are there any additional costs?
Each student is allocated a fixed amount of clay sufficient for the project to work with. If you want to produce work that uses more than this it will be at an extra cost. Roughly £7 per large bag of clay.
