This termly course aims to provide you with an introduction to the principles of the Alexander Technique and an insight into its practical application.

Through a series of practical sessions and talks, the course aims to give you an understanding of how the Technique can enable you to deal with life’s problems in the best way you can, to develop creativity and new skills and maintain the best possible conditions of health. The course will demonstrate how the Technique works in accordance with anatomical and physiological principles of human functioning. It will show you:

  • how to begin to improve the ‘use’ of yourself in your daily life
  • how habitual responses to life’s situations limit growth and creativity
  • how the development of conscious control of all activities is made possible by the means of continued application of the Technique

Most of the practical sessions are related to the kinds of activities that participants are likely to be involved in in the normal course of their daily lives. These sessions will mostly take place in small groups.
