What will you learn on this course?

Heuristic play provides a friendly and stimulating environment for babies and toddlers to investigate a range of resources to discover self through exploring and interacting with objects and the environment with accompanying adults.

Play is a focused experience in which the child becomes absorbed and attentive in the play activity while the adult is available and attentive in observing and responding.

Discovery and exploration are key principles. Babies and young children have the opportunity to make their own decisions through exploring and interacting with objects and the environment. Building concepts and ideas on experiences external and internal. Developing emotional awareness and learning social skills by initiating interactions at their will.

This play practice utilises sensory awareness and performing fine motor and gross motor skills through direct touching and handling of objects. It also encourage supporting adults to hold back on transferring their ideas on play to their baby i.e. practice of being patience, tolerant and observant. Building attachments and bonding, nurturing of mind and soul.

It was so relaxing, and made for a really refreshing change from the usual manic playdates I’ve had at home or at Soft Play.

I was proud of him. Proud to see the little adventurous boy he is becoming, and I felt like I knew him a bit better because I’d let him show me what his interests were, rather than the other way around.
