MAC and Sampad present a free family day in celebration of Bangladesh’s rich cultural heritage, to mark the 50th year of its independence.

We welcome people from all walks of life to join us for this community day, filled with vibrant music, dance, stories, food, craft session, and discussion events.

The event is presented in association with Purbanat, Gronthee, and Radharaman Society. There's a great variety of events and activities throughout the day, with something for everyone.

KILN, MAC's new cafe and restaurant will have a pop up on our Outdoor Terrace with delicious Bangladeshi-themed treats and snacks available to purchase. Including biriyani, chapati, samosas, pakora and bhajis.

Celebrating Together Family Day Programme

1.30pm – 2.30pm | Family and Children Show | MAC Terrace | Free, drop in

Join a great line up of artists for a relaxed afternoon of poetry, song, textile arts and crafts.

3pm – 5pm | Chai & Chat & Poetry | Foyle Studio | Free, limited capacity, booking required

Featuring readings from Sampad’s My City My Home including writing by women from Birmingham and Bangladesh plus leading spoken-word artists and poets of Bangladeshi origin. This engaging session will culminate in a panel discussion, accompanied by samosa and tea.

1.30pm - 5pm | Bangladesh at 50 Exhibition | Deloitte Room | Free, drop in Enjoy a specially curated exhibition of paintings, photography and textiles inspired by Bangladesh.
