A filmmaker and artist team up with their local community to take on the world of finance by setting up their very own bank in this dynamite film, printing their own money and blowing up a million pounds worth of high interest debt.
Dan Edelstyn and Hilary Powell's latest feature is an insightful and humorous investigation into the dark world of debt, exploring how a community in Walthamstow, London comes together to create their own currency. Their fascinating film examines how money and debt is created in our economy, and asks important questions about how the system of money creation might be altered in their favour.
MAC’s reopening cinema programme has been generously supported by BFI FAN Covid-19 Resilience fund from the National Lottery, through the BFI Film Audience Fund.
