Event Information

For thousands of years, people from different parts of the world have gathered in Britain. People from different nations, religions and castes came to UK to find a better a future. All these people brought their language, culture and heritage with them. This mixture and explosion of different backgrounds enriched the culture of Britain.

In Birmingham, 110 languages are spoken everyday, which makes it one of the most diverse cities in the world. The magnitude of this cultural variation is truly a remarkable feat of our diverse society.

UNESCO has instituted ‘International Mother Language Day’ celebrating linguistic and cultural diversity and multilingualism. Purbanat CIC, a cultural organisation based in Birmingham, is organising this event to commemorate and celebrate the day, as part of global celebrations.
