Event Information

These Folk is an improvised, mythical, musical, folk tale brought to you by Justin Brett and Susan Harrison. Inspired by audience suggestions and accompanied by the very best improvisational musicians, they weave a folk tale as old as time and as new as the moment it was created in.

A funny, beautiful and heartwarming show performed by two of the most experienced improvisers in the UK who are also core members of groups such as the Olivier Award-winning Showstopper! The Improvised Musical and Yes Queens, among many others. They perform regularly in the West End, throughout the UK, internationally and at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Inspired by suggestions from the audience they create an entirely improvised, song-filled folk tale.  Everything is made up on the spot: the characters, the folklore, the story, the harmonies, the lyrics and the music.

These Folk seeks to uncover the mythic in the mundane. Expect laughs, moving moments and delight along the way as a new myth is created for your town from the suggestions of local people.

It’s just so hilarious from start to finish.

So bloody funny.

It was amazing and awe inspiring.

If you’re having a rubbish day, this is the best way to end it. Brilliant!

These Folk is that rare combo of beautiful and funny. I laughed, I cried, and I walked away completely inspired.

Kevin John Gillese, Artistic Director Dad’s Garage Improvisation Theatre USA

These Folk is really funny, right off the bat. Brett and Harrison work incredibly well together, of course musically, but most engagingly in their ability to bounce their quickly-manifested characters off each other without uncertainty.
