Learn the Indian fusion style of Bollywood Dance in this fun, high energy dance class.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults aged 18+. It is open to beginners and improvers who wish to train to a performance level. The class will be adapted to suit the needs of the participants, for those with more experience the technique will be made harder and for beginners full instruction will be given and the movement routines simplified.
The course is accessible for people with disabilities providing you are physically able to dance. A support worker or a carer may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
This is a high energy dance class.
What will you learn on this course?
Bollywood is a dance style used in many Indian films and by some pop stars. It is a fusion of dance styles that includes classical Indian dance such as Kathak and Bharatanatyam combined with elements of western styles like street dance and modern jazz. This course will teach you the techniques to perform Bollywood dance body movements and you will also learn about the use of space and how to perform with expression.
Over the course of the term you will learn how to build a dance routine and practice it to performance standards with the opportunity to perform in a sharing at the end of term. As students progress there may be other performance opportunities outside of mac.
This course is a great way to stay active and help improve your fitness levels while learning to work well with others and improve your confidence as a dancer.
Do you need to bring anything?
Participants will need to bring a water based drink to every session and wear suitable clothing that allows free movement. You should bring a warmer top to put on after the session. Classes are in bare feet.
Are there any additional costs?
There may be an additional cost towards a performance outfit.
