Presented in partnership with Kaleidoscope
Acclaimed British actress Cathy Tyson has always marched to the beat of her own drum, refusing to be typecast in an industry which is well known for squeezing actors into specific categories. A BAFTA and Golden Globe nominee, Tyson’s impressive career stretches across film, theatre and television, often stopping off in the Midlands along the way at places like the Royal Shakespeare Company and Pebble Mill - but it’s obviously the TV side of things which Square Eyes is most interested in.
Cathy will be joining Midlands TV archivists Kaleidoscope to look back across her extensive televisual work, including Channel 4 mini-series Scully, ITV stalwart The Bill and Kay Mellor’s hit ITV drama Band Of Gold. The evening will culminate with a screening of the 1990s Pebble Mill production Out Of The Blue in its entirety, featuring Cathy alongside a cast that includes Colin Firth, Dexter Fletcher and Catherine Zeta-Jones in a play about a young filmmaker who starts to confuse the lines between fantasy and reality.
