Let your imagination run free devising your creature’s story with lots of inspiring materials and art skills. The course is led by professional artist and creature creator Tom Ellis of Curious Oddities.

What you will learn on this course

On this three-day course children will learn how to create their own fantastical creature, they will learn how to paint and decorate a small creature sculpture, devise a name, make its home, and create its mythological story.

Seamlessly blending story writing with sculpture children have the opportunity to let their imagination run free and learn how to make their art inspired by the fantastical creatures made by Tom.

At the beginning of the session Tom will introduce his work, and what inspires him, he will also bring along his own mini creatures for the children to explore.

The children will gain new skills in how to design and creating 3D art forms, whilst writing a creative story and learn all about creature characterisation. They will have the opportunity to work with lots of exciting art materials and equipment and gain an understanding of creating artwork through different methods such as drawing, painting and sculpture. This is a fun workshop designed to allow free thinking and imagination.
