Event Information

To coincide with and to celebrate Japan’s Respect for the Aged Day, Little Earthquake will deliver a special session inspired by one of the very greatest things which brings people of all ages and backgrounds together — tea — and by one of Japan’s great contributions to world culture — the tea ceremony.

Drawing on the key principles of the traditional Japanese tea ceremony — generosity, respect for old and new friends, and a true appreciation of the present moment — Phil (one of Little Earthquake’s co-Directors) will look back at his Black Country upbringing and at how tea has made him the man he is today — as well as inviting his guests to think about their own relationship with tea and the little everyday rituals which form part of their tea-drinking lives.

Culture Club members will be the special guests of honour at this once-in-a-lifetime event, trying some sweet treats inspired by Phil’s mom’s best bakes and finding the perfect shade for their everyday cuppa as we bring out the tea urns and the mismatched tea sets — and taking the time to appreciate all the things in our lives that truly spark joy.

Priority booking opens: Monday 19 August
Public booking opens: Monday 9 September
