Get inspired and design your very own pottery piece. Learn how to hand build an object, then learn how to decorate it using a variety of decorative techniques.
What will you learn on this course?
Design, build and decorate your own pottery piece on this creative two-day course. With the guidance of the tutor, you will learn some hand building techniques to create an object of your choice. The tutor will then demonstrate a variety decorative techniques including spotting slip, slip trailing, in-relief modelling, paper resist and sgrafﬁto. Follow your creativity to decorate your creation, or take inspiration from the work of contemporary ceramicists such as Jennifer Spring, Anna Whitehouse, Hannah Billingham, Jennifer Falter, Michele Bianco and Katrin Moye.
Who is this course for?
This course is for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to all levels and no previous experience is required. The course may be accessible for people with disabilities. You do need dexterity in your hands to work with the clay and the tools. Students may bring their own Carer or support worker. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Do you need to bring anything?
MAC will provide equipment and materials for participants, although attendees are encouraged to bring their own tools where possible to minimise the risk of COVID-19 transmission.
Are there any additional costs?
The course price includes all materials and firing of your work unless the particular pieces you wish to work on are oversized when an additional charge will be made. Please discuss with the tutor.
