What will you learn on this course?
This course is an opportunity to explore how textiles artists might approach making and using a sketchbook. It is particularly suited to anyone who is making textile art or considering attending a textiles course and anyone interested in exploring a slightly different approach to making a sketchbook.

The purpose of this course is to encourage you to experiment freely with an abundance of inspiration.  You will learn to use different paint effects and decorative elements including printing, collage, markel sticks, rubbings, foiling, re-assembling, stencilling, layering, manipulating. You will look at how to enhance your work by looking at scale and repetition to create a beautiful selection of unique pages for your sketchbook. Your finished sketchbook can be used to provide inspiration for future textiles projects or simply treasured as a beautiful object in its own right.

Using a mix of group demonstrations, hand-outs and individual support the tutor will guide you through the process explaining the materials and teaching the techniques. By the end of this course you will have produced your own sketchbook and leave with lots of new creative techniques for capturing and exploring your ideas.
