Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for families with children aged 6 months to 3 years. It is open to beginners and improvers and the class will be adapted to suit the needs of the participants. The course may be accessible for children with disabilities as parents work together with their child. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and needs. Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

What will you learn on this course?
This course provides an opportunity to be creative and active with your child, dancing together in a fun exploration of how the body can move on its own, with a partner and with different props. You and your child will develop an understanding of the basic principles of dance. The tutor will demonstrate and instruct you to develop movement phrases through structured and creative exercises. This content and creative process will develop over the term. Some of the course will include working with props such as scarves, beanbags, materials, musical shakers to help nurture and develop your child’s movement capacity. This course will promote better body and spatial awareness and help to develop your child’s confidence and team working skills. On completion of this course, you and your child will have a sound understanding of creative dance processes that will form a base for the child to develop independently.

Do you need to bring anything?
Participants will need to bring a water based drink to every session and wear suitable clothing that allows free movement. You should bring a warmer top to put on after the session. Lessons are done in bare feet.

Are there any additional costs?
The course price covers one adult and one child. There is a charge for each additional person (child or adult). At least one adult must be present for every two children.
