Be creative together as a family and learn how to create your own sunflowers using fabric, dyeing with turmeric and weaving.

What will you learn on this course?

This one-day course is an opportunity for adults and children to enjoy making sunflowers using fabric and a variety of other resources such as pompoms and ribbon etc. The emphasis of this course is on experimentation, offering an opportunity to experiment with a variety of materials and techniques including weaving, printing, dyeing including microwave dyeing with turmeric, and embellishing your sunflower with hand or machine stitches.

Everyone will leave with their own unique fabric sunflower that can be used as a hanging, brooch or bag decoration.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years accompanied by their parents or guardians who are looking for an opportunity to enjoy learning together. It is open to all levels. The tutor will teach and demonstrate all the necessary skills and techniques.

The course is accessible for people with disabilities. Children will work with their parent or carer and the room is wheelchair accessible. The techniques involve arm and shoulder work and require some dexterity in the hands.

Do you need to bring anything?

All materials and equipment is provided. You should wear old clothes as some of the textiles processes can get a bit messy.

Are there any additional costs?

The course price includes all materials.

The course price covers one adult and one child. There is a charge for each additional person (child or adult). At least one adult must be present for every three children.
