Flights of the Imagination is an exhibition of work by undergraduate illustration students at Birmingham City University.
Students have investigated the theme of space exploration to create experimental artworks that reflect the broader cultural and political implications of the Apollo missions to the Moon. The work has been developed through a range of practical research exploring diverse source material such as the Apollo 11 transcripts, astrology, Greek mythology, 1970s horror movies and the portrayal of women in the field of space exploration and within the wider NASA community.
Flights of the Imagination has been produced in collaboration with the BA Illustration course and the School of Visual Communication at Birmingham City University.
