Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to beginners and improvers. You will get the best out of this course if you understand the basics of Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO.
The course is accessible for people with disabilities who are able to use a camera and a carer or support worker may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
What will you learn on this course?
This is a fun and friendly course is intended as a follow on from ‘Mastering the Basics of Your DSLR’. You will get the best out of this course if you are already familiar with the basics of Aperture, Shutter Speed and ISO. On this course you will explore technical and creative ways to get more out of your DSLR Camera.
Taught through a combination of tutor presentations and practical exercises the course covers a range of techniques and skills covering photography theory, technical understanding and artistic approaches including:
Mastering camera settings and shooting modes
Understanding light and shooting in different conditions
Creative approaches to nature, architectural portrait and landscape photography
Introduction to black and white photography
Practical black and white shoot

There will be opportunity for creative discussion about choosing a future body of work to shoot and motivating yourself to get out and about with your camera. Thinking creatively and learning from the masters. There will also be time for sharing, reviewing and critiquing each other’s work.
On completion of this course you will have an understanding of more creative approaches to photography and an improved confidence in the operation of your camera. You should feel inspired to be creative with your camera and want to explore your own capabilities further.
Do you need to bring anything?
Bring along your camera, a tripod if you have one and appropriate clothing for going outside.
You can bring your own laptop or tablet if you wish to use this to share your work. Apple Macs will also be available but please remember any cables you might need to connect your camera to your device. It is also useful if you bring a copy of your camera manual.
