This exploratory day brings together industry professionals for a series of informal discussions and a careers panel that explores women in art and technology.
The event is specifically designed for young women from school year 7 upwards and will be of interest to those considering career choices and who would like the opportunity to learn from inspirational speakers. We also welcome practitioners and professionals with an interest in learning.
Key note speaker is Sarah Ellis, Director of Digital Development at the Royal Shakespeare Company. We will also have a Careers Panel chaired by Dr Sarah Jones, Head of Media at Birmingham City University. Panelists are Harmeet Chagger-Khan, Digital Artist, Alexa Torlo, STEAMhouse & PhD Candidate at Birmingham City University and Alex Rühl, VR Director and Producer.
The day will be informative, interactive and inspiring, with opportunities to explore technology through talks, a Careers Panel + Q&A and Show & Tell with DIY AR, 3D printing and digital projects led by Dr Sarah Jones, Dr Poppy Wilde & MAC Artist Tutor Catherine Jones.
Talking and demonstrating is Laura Kriefman, award-winning Director, Producer and Artist behind Hellion Trace, an award-winning company specialising in world-class productions that fuse movement and technology together. Hellion will perform their first visual album, titled Kicking the Mic - A Hint of Mischief; a live performance fusing tap dance, live looping and vocals with a sound reactive LED dress.
