What will you learn on this course?

This course is for students who will learn how to create portraits in ceramics including 3D sculpted forms. You will be introduced to modelling techniques and encouraged to develop your own artistic style.

There will be more emphasis on this course on developing your observational skills and translating these into more personal representations of the human face. You will be encouraged to experiment and explore different approaches that will help you to find your own artistic methods and style.

You will be working in Mac’s fully equipped sculpture studio with buff, terracotta and crank clays. There may be the option to fire and glaze completed works.

Coming on this course is a great way to experience working with other like-minded people in a relaxed studio environment.

Do you need to bring anything?

You don’t need to bring anything. All materials and equipment is provided.

Are there any additional costs?

Each student is allocated a fixed amount of clay to work with. If you want to produce work that uses more than this it will be at an extra cost. Roughly £7 per large bag of clay plus a small additional to cost to fire.
