Discover controls and techniques for music production using Logic Express software, this course is designed for both beginners and those looking to develop and improve their skills with advanced music production techniques.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years. It is open to beginners and improvers, you don’t need any previous experience as full instruction and guidance is given. This course is aimed at people who would like an introduction to making music on a computer with specialist software and to those looking to improve and enhance their skills.

The course is accessible for people with disabilities who are able to use a computer. The room is wheelchair accessible and a carer or support worker may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.

You will spend most of this 2 hour class sat at a computer.

What will you learn on this course?

This course is ideal for the budding producer or musician interested in learning how to make music with a computer. Working in the mac media studio on a suite of Apple Mac computers you will learn how to use Logic Express software, a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation). You will be taught how to create your own sounds from scratch, source samples, produce effects and bring your music to life with use of software automation. The course covers essential skills such as:

  • Creating basic arrangements 
  • Understanding song structure
  • Recording MIDI
  • Programming beats
  • Music editing and mixing
  • Advanced audio editing
  • MIDI programming
  • Software Automation
  • Creating beats and sounds from scratch
  • Mixing and Mastering

Each week the tutor will set tasks and small projects designed to incorporate the new skills that you have learned. As well as 1-2-1 support, at the end of each lesson you will listen to everyone’s work and share feedback and comments.  

By the end of this course you will have produced your own tracks or collection of sounds and be familiar with using a DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) to try and realise the sounds you hear in your head. 

There is a short break in the middle of each class.
