Director Todd Phillips delivers a new standalone origin story for the clown with the cracked smile in this acclaimed gothic drama. An Oscar tipped Joaquin Phoenix plays Joker as a lightning rod for a sick world. A clown-for-hire by day, he spends nights as a struggling stand up comic - but when he’s pushed too far, Joker is ready to regurgitate Gotham City’s hate.

Drawing upon the work of Martin Scorsese – most notably The King of Comedy and Taxi Driver – Phillips has drawn the talents of Robert De Niro himself, forging a brutal and controversial work that reflects the world of today in a glass, darkly.
