This course will help you to find your voice and project it with confidence no matter if feel you can’t sing or you're an established singer who wants to improve or gain confidence. No former musical knowledge is required.
Who is this course for?
This course is open to adults aged 18 + for beginners with no or little formal musical knowledge or skills. Open to anyone who wants to sing.
The course is accessible for people with disabilities. It may be less accessible for those with hearing difficulties or disabilities. Students can be accompanied by their own carer or support worker and the room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and needs.
What will you learn on this course?
On this course you will learn how to develop your voice through: vocal exercises; musical technique; aural perception/listening skills; as well as skills in pitch, diction and voice care.
Sessions include a mixture of whole group singing with up to 3 part harmony. As well as smaller group work where the groups learn the difference between lead and backing singing. For those who have confidence you can also choose to have a go at solo singing. At the end of each term the group songs and optional solo pieces are performed at the Let Us Sing Showcase.
The musical content is largely decided by the students and encouraged to try a broad range of musical genre and styles.
Through this course attenders develop their confidence, technical vocal skills as well as learn to care for their voice.
Do you need to bring anything?
Ideas for songs, music for any self-selected solo pieces and option to bring your own folder to collect all the course printed music sheets in.
