Explore your own projects and ideas with like-minded individuals, extend your knowledge of textile art forms and techniques, and spend a day relaxing and being creative with the support and guidance of Mac textile tutors who will be on hand to offer help, provide guidance and inspiration for your projects.
What will you learn on this course?
This is a one day event that will happen twice per term. It provides the perfect opportunity for textile students and artists to build on their knowledge, increase their skills and work on existing projects within our fully equipped Textile Studio.
If you are an existing student this is a chance to continue work on your individual projects under the supervision of artist tutor who will be on hand to offer help and guidance as required. You will have the opportunity to further develop your skills in decorative techniques such screen printing, embroidery, batik, dyeing, feltmaking and peg loom weaving and other crafts.
Who is this course for?
MAC Textile Club is suitable for adults aged 18+ years. It is for improvers and advanced students and experienced textile artists. If you are new to textiles please review our extensive list of textile courses we offer at MAC.
You will need previous experience either through attending a previous textiles course at MAC or similar organisation and are an experienced textile artist who can work independently.
The Textile Club is designed to encourage discourse and development of your projects supported by MAC textile tutors.
The club is accessible for people with disabilities who can participate in practical art activities. This course requires dexterity in the hands. A support worker or a carer may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
Do you need to bring anything?
All basic equipment is provided. Some scrap materials are provided for test pieces. We have a stock of sewing threads and fibres in stock for you to try. We encourage students to bring their own specialist materials and equipment to complete their projects.
If you would like to bring your own sewing machines, we can arrange PAT testing your equipment for £5.
