Event Information

In this fun one-day course children will learn how to create a character and bring them to life with a zoetrope animation!

What will you learn on this course?

This is an exciting one-day workshop where children will unleash their creativity and explore how characters were animated before film by creating very own zoetrope animation.

Children will design their own character, and them to bring them to life with movement by building a zoetrope.

A zoetrope is an early form of animation, invented by English mathematician William George Horner in 1833. Images are viewed through narrow slits in a moving cylinder, this creates the illusion of a moving image.

Participants will learn creativity and drawing skills to create a sequence of drawings of their very own character, then animate their character by building a zoetrope. After the course they can take their zoetrope home with them to show their illusion off to friends and family.

The course is designed to encourage creativity, imagination, teamwork and build confidence whilst having fun.
