Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for children aged 6 to 11 years. It is open to all ability levels and children don’t need previous experience. Parents are not expected to accompany children on these courses. All our staff are DBS checked.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. We can provide a learning support worker and a parent or carer may assist their child if required. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
What will you learn on this course?
MAC one-day workshops are designed for children to explore a range of creative activities including visual arts, crafts, digital media and performance. All the workshops are for the same age range and offer an introduction to a particular art form. The children can usually take home anything they have made during the day.
In this Printalot workshop children will have the opportunity to learn about and experiment with a range of fun printing techniques including:
Collographs – a technique where highly textured surfaces are created by sticking materials to cardboard. This surface is then covered in ink and used to print onto paper.
Screen prints – a process that uses a mesh-based stencil to apply ink onto different materials such as paper or fabric.
Monoprints – produce variations of single images printed from a reprintable block.
Craft Stamping – creating stamps to be used with an ink pad.
Do you need to bring anything?
Children need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one hour break. All course materials and equipment are provided.
Children should dress appropriately as some of the visual art workshops can get a bit messy. Drama and dance require clothing that allows free movement and children should bring a water based drink.
Are there any additional costs?
There are no additional costs for this course.
