Have you got a piece of clothing that’s past its best but you can’t bear to part with? Learn how to upcycle your old clothes by stitching, glueing and stencilling to make one-off cool custom clothing – punk inspired.
You will start the day with a visit to see Ben Venom’s artwork to inspire your own punk creations.
What will you learn on this course?
Bring an item of clothing you are happy to be 'edited' and learn how to breathe new life into your jacket/trousers/t-shirt or even a hat.. Inspired by Ben Venom’s art work you will learn how to turn your old clothes into one off unique punk inspired creations.
You do not necessarily need to sew in this course as other methods will be incorporated so it is perfect for everyone.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for young people aged 12 to 17 years. It is open to all levels.
Young people don’t need previous experience as full instruction is given on basic skills. This is a great course for those who want to learn the art of retro fashion customisation and create one off unique pieces.
All our staff are DBS checked.
The course is accessible for young people with disabilities who can undertake practical sewing activities and making activities such as using hand stitching, glueing.
A learning support worker is provided and parent or carer may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.

Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to
Do you need to bring anything?
Please bring pieces of clothing to work on that you want to customise such as jacket, trousers or hats, bring band t-shirts and any fabric scraps and patches that you would like to incorporate.
We will provide a selection of accessories and basic hand sewing
You are welcome to bring any fabrics, textiles or haberdashery you would like to use to decorate your garment. A selection of essential sewing equipment and materials will be provided.
Learners need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one hour break.
Are there any additional costs?
None unless you want to buy new accessories.
