What will you learn on this course?
Reading for Wellbeing is all about sharing the pleasure of reading aloud of good stories, novel extracts and poetry, which trigger discussions about the relationship of their themes with people’s lives, and our feelings about the behaviour of the main characters. Why did they do what they did? Would we have acted like them if we were in the same position?
Shared reading is an internationally recognised method of promoting wellbeing, so participants can go on to use the approach with others. Most of all, though, it’s a way of getting to know people, through a love of literature.
Polly Wright will lead the two hour sessions on Friday mornings.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for adults aged 18+ years.
The course is accessible for people with disabilities and a support worker or carer may assist. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific needs.
