Create a performance inspired by ancient mythology, carnival and the baroque period in an alternate sci-fi reality, that you will perform at the end of your summer school week for family and friends.
What will you learn on this course?
In an alternate reality, during the baroque period, people were not just people. There were cyborgs, people with quantum powers, animals with the genes of a human and more. This gave them special powers – just like the Greek gods had in ancient mythology. It is at this time, during the carnival, that our performance is born.
Characters from Greek mythology such as Theseus, Hercules, Ariadne, Zeus, Athena and Cupid are commonly encountered in this world. By creating our own mythology inspired by ancient tales, and using classic characters from commedia dell’arte, we will compose our own baroque performance set in a sci-fi alternate universe.
During the week long series of workshops, we will develop the story, devise the music and staging, learn about opera and myths, learn a bit about robots and have a lot of fun. The result of the workshops will be a performance at which all family and friends will be welcome.
