One size does not fit all, as we'll find out in this short film compilation from Flatpack: Assemble. Delve into the rich tapestry of the queer community...

Ivan Olita’s brilliant short gives an insight into Muxes, a third category of gender accepted by indigenous communities in Mexico’s southern state of Oaxaca. Further north, the American short A Song For Your Mixtapereminds us of the pressures societal normalcy puts on us. Breathing new life into learning, LGBTQAlphabet- is a visually stunning short film detailing the intricacies of the LGBTQIA+ community through movement and language. And keep an eye out for Our Skin which adds sensual visuals to the very real conversation between a transexual woman of colour and a Afghanistan veteran as they slowly gain the courage to be intimate with one another.

This programme is packed full of laughs, tears and understanding, and most importantly celebrates just some of the many faces of the LGBTQIA+ community.

This free programme of short films is part of the 2017 SHOUT OUT community day, join us for a day of free performances, workshops, activities, exhibitions and films happening all over mac Birmingham from 12-7pm, Sunday 13 November.
