Take your first steps as a comedian in a friendly relaxed atmosphere. Build confidence and mould your public speaking skills, while learning how to accumulate and fine tune your material.
Who is this course for?
This course is suitable for young people aged 11 to 17 years. It is open to all ability levels and you don’t need previous experience. Parents are not expected to accompany children on these courses. All our staff are DBS checked.
The course is accessible for young people of all abilities who can participate in practical art and craft activities. A parent or carer may assist their child if required. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
What will you learn on this course?
In this specially devised Stand up Comedy course for young people. Participants will learn about the art of comedy, build confidence and enhance their public speaking skills, learn how to find and write material . Working with professional stand up comedian, actor and performer Mr Rich Stokes they will learn how to hold an audience, how to tell a joke more confidently, all in a fun friendly and nurturing atmosphere.
This course will also enable the participants to develop their confidence, creativity, group work, speaking, listening and performance and presentation skills.

Who teaches this course?
Our enhanced Safeguarding Policy recommends that we hold emergency contact details for all learning and participation activities (including courses), for children and young people under 18 years old and for supported or vulnerable adults. These are to be completed and signed by parents/carers except young people aged 16-18 and supported/vulnerable adults who are able to sign for themselves.
Completed forms must be handed in to our Sales and Information Team prior to the start of the course.
