For all you budding little comics, learn to tell jokes and hold an audience just for kids.
Who is this course for?
This is a fun one-day workshops designed for children to explore a range of creative activities including visual arts, crafts, digital media and performance. All the workshops are for the same age range and offer an introduction to a particular art form. The children can usually take home anything they have made during the day.
The course is accessible for children of all abilities who can participate in theatre activities. We can provide a learning support worker and a parent or carer may assist their child if required. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The room is wheelchair accessible.
Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.
What will you learn on this course?
In this specially devised Stand up Comedy for Kids course children will learn about comedy through fun games and exercises that will introduce them to different performance skills. Working with professional stand up and actor Mr Rich Stokes they will learn how to hold an audience, how to tell a joke more confidently, all in a fun and nurturing environment.
This course will also enable the children to develop their confidence, creativity, group work, speaking, listening and performance and presentation skills.
Do you need to bring anything?
Children need to bring their own lunch to eat on a supervised one hour break. All course materials and equipment are provided.
Children should dress appropriately as some of the visual art workshops can get a bit messy. Drama and dance require clothing that allows free movement and children should bring a water based drink.
