Lose yourself in the fantasy world of Japanese animation as we draw and invent whimsical characters in the style of Studio Ghibli™

What will you learn on this course?

Get inspiration for your own illustrations from the otherworldly story of Howl’s Moving Castle, or the magic in Kiki’s Delivery Service in this one-day course. Join Milan in a draw-along and learn how to draw witches, Great Forest Spirits and 500-year-old mountain wolf gods! Build a secret miniature world for Arrietty to live in, inspired by the story of the borrowers.

Macs children’s workshops are designed for children to explore a range of creative activities that may include visual arts, crafts, digital media and performance. All the workshops are for the same age range and offer an introduction to a particular art form. The children can usually take home anything they have made during the day.

By the end of the day, children will have:

  • learned observational techniques to draw animated characters
  • invented a set of Ghibli-inspired characters, inspiring an illustrated story completed during the course
  • built a miniature world for the tiny Arrietty using Lego™
