Interested in the absurd? Become a true Surrealist in this workshop by playing some of the strange games they invented for accessing the weirdest of ideas. Abandon sense and create brilliantly imaginative artworks!
“The imaginary is what tends to become real.” – André Breton
What will you learn on this course?
The Surrealists were a group of young artists who broke all the rules, then put them back in the wrong order. Explore the history of one of the twentieth centuries most infamous art groups and let your imagination run wild as you create truly unique and impossibly bizarre works of art.
In this one-day workshop, children will learn all about surrealist art making, games, and painting while drawing from their imagination. Participants will get to explore different art materials and techniques in order to create ‘surreal affects’. There will be plenty of artwork created for the children to take home.
‘Why do we have to be so uniform? When I order a grilled lobster in a restaurant, why doesn’t anyone bring me a cooked telephone?’ – Salvador Dalì
