Learn the art of animation from the basic principles of professional animation techniques to creating your own short stop motion animation film

What will you learn on this course?

Participants will learn about the basics of animation and create their own animation that incorporates stop-motion and hand-drawn techniques. Working as a team they will plan a story, design and make their own characters using plasticine and create sets from card and other craft materials. Using professional animation software, they will then create a series of stills that will become their animated film. They will then create titles and credits using traditional hand-drawn animation. Finally, they will edit their film and add music, sound effects and recorded dialogue. In addition to learning how to make an animation, participants will learn about team working, storytelling, drawing, sculpting, listening skills and the use of specialist technology. The tutor will work closely with the groups demonstrating the different processes as well as supporting the participants to realise their own ideas.
