Based on an extraordinary true story, The Captain sees a German army deserter find a Nazi captain's abandoned uniform during the final weeks of World War II. Emboldened by the authority it grants him, he soon takes command of a camp that holds German soldiers accused of desertion - and begins to dispense violent justice. This uncompromisingly dark film from director Robert Schwentke asks some powerful questions about humanity’s willingness to blindly follow leaders.
