Armando Iannucci has us trembling in the Kremlin with his comedy of fear, which chronicles the Soviet power struggles occasioned by the death of Joseph Stalin in 1953. Based on the graphic novel of the same name and featuring an all-star cast Iannucci stylishly plugs into the classic Soviet-era mode of subversive satire, and melds it with his own, Iannucci has returned to the themes of power, incompetence and bad faith. Like the spin-doctors and aides of his TV satires The Thick of It and Veep, these poisonous Soviet rivals are all desperate to be in control.

Director: Armando Iannucci

Cast: Rupert Friend, Olga Kurylenko, Andrea Riseborough, Steve Buscemi, Jason Isaacs, Jeffrey Tambo
