Event Information
This dazzling Technicolor parable, starring Moira Shearer as the dancer forced to choose between love and art, is considered by many to be the duo’s masterpiece. The film continues to inspire artists, in particular its mesmeric 17-minute dance sequence - see Matthew Bourne’s ballet of the same name, or even the musical numbers in Barbie.
The screening will be introduced by critic Pamela Hutchinson, author of a new BFI Classics book on The Red Shoes. Pamela will also be joined by Flatpack's Ian Francis for a Q&A after the film.
Both the intro and Q&A include BSL interpretation.

Duration includes trailers and adverts. Please note that we do not admit latecomers after the main feature has started and we have a limited food & drink policy. See more information about Relaxed Screenings here. MAC’s cinema programme has been generously supported by BFI Film Audience Network and Film Hub Midlands.
