Enjoy a rare set from Gerry Love, known by audiences the world over as the enigmatic and elegant bassist of much-loved indie legends, Teenage Fanclub.

His stellar songwriting credits include some of the band's most gorgeous tracks, including Star SignSparky's Dream and Ain't That Enough. Since leaving the band, his focus has turned to his solo project, Lightships.

Gerry leads The Ryland Caravan line-up as local indie cowboys Independent Country take over MAC’s Outdoor Theatre with non-stop live music, DJs, food, craft beer from Attic Brewery, podcasting, craft stalls and more.

Like an old-time travelling show, The Ryland Caravan - a tip of the hat to Cannon Hill Park benefactor, Louisa Ryland - pulls into MAC with a rollickin’ good line-up:

  • Soak up a rare set from headliner Gerry Love, as he reimagines his peerless songbook from his years as one of the main songwriters and vocalists with Scottish indie legends Teenage Fanclub and from his stunning solo album Electric Cables.
  • Floppy fringes and baggy jeans are swapped for pedal steel guitars and four-part harmonies as Birmingham’s own Independent Country mash up UK and US indie classics with country stylings, delivering a sound that has won admirers on festival stages from Bournville to Nashville.
  • Mercurial live performer Laura J Martin interweaves vocal loops, flute, mandolin and electronics to bewitching effect. The talented multi-instrumentalist has toured regularly across the UK and Europe and supported acts such as PJ Harvey, Teenage Fanclub and Cate Le Bon.
  • PLUS blistering punk edge guitar energy from Swampmeat Family Band

...and much more!
