Event Information

Learn all about VR filmmaking using 360 degree cameras and devise a short film that can be viewed on your smart phone, google cardboard or VR headset.

What will you learn on this course?

The tutor will introduce students to the concept of creative VR filmmaking, working with 360 camera equipment including GoPro’s and Insta360’s.

Students will learn how to work with 360 camera, and will be introduced to creative ideas and unsual perspectives.

Students will also learn how to edit using Adobe cloud software that works with panoramic lenses and how to use editing software and apps to knit the films together. The tutor will also introduce learners to other experimental analogue methods.

By the end of the day you will have the skills and confidence you need to go out and start making your own films.

Who is this course for?

This course is suitable for young people aged 12 to 17 years. It is open to all ability levels and young people don’t need previous experience. Parents are not expected to accompany their children on these courses. All our staff are DBS checked.

The course may be accessible for young people with disabilities who can participate in detail based activities. We provide a learning support worker and a parent or carer may assist their child if required. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. The building is wheelchair accessible. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and needs.

Age ranges are set carefully to take into account key age developments, materials being used and course stimulus. It is very important that age ranges are not too large or across key stages and therefore need to be adhered to.

Do you need to bring anything?

Equipment will be provided, although participants are encouraged to bring their own cameras if they have them. The course may involve being outdoors, so participants should bring practical outdoor clothing and shoes, and a packed lunch.

The film file will be made available to students at the end of the course. Students are encouraged to bring a 64GB memory stick or external hard drive, if that is not available MAC will send the file via secure transfer on email. Please let us know how you would like the file delivered to you.
