Yin Yoga is a stilling practice that focuses on passive stretching of the deeper connective tissue. The practice enables the student to safely work the deeper yin tissues of the joints, ligaments, tendons and fascia. The slower paced nature of the practice allows the student to relax and develop greater body awareness.

What will you learn on this course?

The practice of Yin Yoga improves energy, enhancing the flow of qi (or chi) leading to better organ health and general wellbeing.

The postures are generally floor based, focusing on the lower part of the body and are held for up to five minutes allowing time to deepen and intensify the stretch. By ensuring the muscles to remain relaxed the student is able to safely explore the benefits of stretching the deeper connective tissues of the body. The use of props such as bolsters and blocks is highly recommended during the practice in order to move into an appropriate depth.

The stillness of the postures allows space to develop both in the body and the mind. The body remains relaxed and at ease while the mind becomes clear and restful. 

This yoga course combines meditation, postures and breathing techniques to develop profound relaxation, inviting more clarity and restfulness into daily life.

Who is this course for?

This course is for adults aged 18+ and is open to students of all levels. It is suitable for beginners with no previous experience and those wishing to deepen their practice. The nature of the course has a philosophy that allows students to participate in group sequences while developing their own understanding and engaging with yoga at their own pace.

Yoga is an individual experience and alternative options for the postures will be offered where possible so that each student is able to relax their body and mind throughout the session.  

The course may be accessible for people with disabilities. Students can be accompanied by their own carer or support worker. Carers must book a complimentary ticket if attending a course to provide support. Please contact us to discuss your specific situation and needs. 

You should avoid having a meal during the 2 hours before the class.

All students should inform the tutor of any ongoing health problems. If you suffer from a medical condition it is recommended that you take advise from your doctor before doing this type of physical exercise. Please note that this course is not designed for pregnant women.

Do you need to bring anything?

Please wear comfortable clothes that allow free movement. You must bring your own yoga mat and for full benefit of the course you are advised to bring at least one blanket. Yoga blocks and a bolster will be provided.

Are there any additional costs?

You must provide a non-slip yoga mat at your own expense.
