mac awarded three stars under Julie’s Bicycle Creative Green assessment

mac recently completed Julie’s Bicycle Creative Green assessment, and in their first attempt managed to gain 3-stars for their ‘deep commitment to environmental sustainability* at mac. T

The assessment highlighted current activity, which includes:

  • Encouraging conversations and creative actions on environmental issues – which occurs at their regular Green Working Group meetings as well as through staff newsletters and events
  • Generating their own electricity with solar panels
  • Promotion of cycling to work – which has included bike maintenance sessions and further recognition from the Birmingham Cycling Revolution
  • Monitoring its energy usage, water and waste production - reducing their impacts
  • An environmental action plan, used to prioritise all green activity

Following the assessment Lizzie Moran, Head of Technical Services at mac said: ‘Completing Creative Green with Julies Bicycle has given us a focal point to keep the momentum and to strive to do more. We want environmental action to be something everyone at mac is involved in, not just a few as it requires all our efforts. It has given us confidence, as a result we organised our first Eco Day event at mac this year, and we’re hoping to do the same in 2017 as it was well received by visitors and staff alike.’

*Catherine Bottrill, Julie’s Bicycle added: 'We are thrilled to celebrate mac birmingham receiving 3-stars under our Creative Green scheme for their deep commitment to environmental sustainability. We look forward to supporting their continuing efforts to minimise their carbon footprint and we look forward to seeing how they further catalyse others in their local community.’
