#onemoreformac - launch of 3-step campaign to encourage further support from visitors on Facebook Live

This April, visitors and supporters have the opportunity to support mac as part of its #onemoreformac campaign, which launches today – Friday 7 April 2017 on Facebook Live at 1pm. As part of the campaign all are encouraged to pledge and do one more thing for mac, to ensure it continues to offer great art for all. This could include visiting its free exhibitions, buying one more coffee, or writing a positive review online. All of which will help to ensure many more visitors enjoy and are aware of its inclusive activities.

#onemoreformac follows mac’s initial social media campaign, launched on Valentine’s day: if you love us, help us, use us, which garnered widespread support in response to a 70% cut in funding from Birmingham City Council.

Deborah Kermode, mac CEO and Artistic Director said: ‘mac Birmingham was founded on a spirit of generosity and community, and that overriding spirit remains at the heart of everything we do today. Since 1962, we have been a space where all are welcome and everyone is equal – whatever their reasons for coming. We help to inspire, nurture and showcase the creativity of others across the city. We all continue to be thankful for the patronage of local people, many of whom hold mac in high esteem and have supported us since our inception, alongside our funders which include the players of People’s Postcode Lottery and Arts Council England. We look forward to seeing the pledges of support in the coming weeks, which will help to ensure we continue to offer a varied programme for Birmingham.’

#onemoreformac – Three Step Pledge:

  1. Choose your pledge – it can be from the list below, or you can make up your own.
  2. Commit to it, by posting about it on social media.
  3. Make it happen! When the pledge is fulfilled, take a photo or video and share it with mac. They want you to see you enjoying that extra cake, adding your fiver to the donation box, or gathering your friends or family to relax with a film or play.
We want to be able to say “thank you” for each pledge:
    • On Twitter & Instagram, use #onemoreformac
    • On Facebook – post your pledge on our page facebook.com/macbirmingham

#onemoreformac pledge ideas:

  • Buy one more coffee in the café. If you’re already having coffee – buy a cake, or lunch!
  • Attend one more performance. If you’re already coming – try a new genre or art form.
  • Drop a fiver into a donation box. If you already donate occasionally, commit to one regular donation per month here.
  • Enjoy an extra film screening. Give that foreign language drama a go. Bring a friend to discuss it with afterwards over a drink in the bar.
