Midlands Arts Centre is named Most Visited Free Attraction in the West Midlands

In an annual survey of visits to visitor attractions by VisitEngland, Midlands Arts Centre (MAC) has retained its title as the Most Visited Free Attraction in the West Midlands.

With over 1.13m visitors in 2017, MAC is listed 12th nationwide, amongst the likes of the National Portrait Gallery and British Library - and it’s also the most visited free attraction outside of London and the South East.

Full results can be seen on the VisitBritain website at: https://www.visitbritain.org/annualsurvey-visits-visitor-attractions-latest-results.

It’s not the first time that Midlands Arts Centre has been named as the Most Visited Free Attraction in the West Midlands, but this doesn’t make the results any less appreciated by the team.

On hearing the news, MAC’s Chief Executive and Artistic Director, Deborah Kermode, said:

“It’s absolutely brilliant to see these results and the team at Midlands Arts Centre is thrilled. We have such a range of things going on here at MAC, with a busy calendar of theatre, dance, art, music, film, comedy, participation and learning. It really matters to us that we’re loved and used by our local community – and equally, that people visiting Birmingham can come to us as a major attraction and easily access all kinds of art and activities.

“I’d like to thank the team here for caring so much about what we do. We also wouldn’t be the attraction we are without the support of our many funders, including the players of People’s Postcode Lottery, who fund many of our free events for families.

“We’re passionate about offering free art exhibitions and activities that will really inspire people. We also have a huge range of affordable events, shows and performances, meaning that as many people as possible can come and enjoy seeing, making and doing in our fantastic, friendly arts centre.”
