On Sunday 10 February MAC launched the first of its quarterly Tea with a Twist afternoons in partnership with the charity Contact the Elderly. Designed as a fun afternoon of tea, cake and live entertainment, MAC welcomed 77 over 65s to enjoy swing music by the Wyre Forest Big Band and comedy from Birmingham’s own Barbara Nice.
Tea with a Twist is part of our Celebrating Age programme which aims to welcome more people aged 65 and over to MAC to enjoy the variety of arts activities available throughout the year. Each Tea with a Twist will showcase live acts from a variety of art forms including music, comedy and dance. Planned for future Sundays are a rock and roll band, Indian dance and some circus skills. Every event will have a different feel and we hope that our guests will keep returning to see more of the quality entertainment provided.
Guests to the February Tea with a Twist commented that they had enjoyed a lively afternoon which made them laugh, and gave them the opportunity of seeing a live band up close. Many scones and cake were consumed along with unlimited tea and coffee. What a lovely way to spend a Sunday afternoon!
Our next Tea with a Twist takes place on 9 June, followed by a big Christmas themed event in December.
Wonderful and excellent entertainment!
The comedy was first class
Cannot wait until the next one!
