Members of MAC’s monthly arts club for over 65s, Culture Club, paid a visit to the Hexagon theatre to see one-man show Shylock, starring Rhodri Miles and then attended lunch with him post show to talk about their response to the play, and Rhodri’s career on stage and screen.
The group thoroughly enjoyed the performance and all felt that they’d learned something new from watching. One Culture Club member talked about how she was pleased to have come to something that wasn’t her normal type of theatre, and was delighted to have got so much from the performance. All were impressed by the quality of Rhodri’s performance where he played all the characters including the play’s narrator Tubal (the only other Shakespearean Jewish character) and Shylock himself.
Culture Club aims to offer a range of activities for over 65s to give members the opportunity to engage with lots of different art forms including art, theatre and dance. For more information about the group please contact Lucy Rix, Community Engagement Producer on firstname.lastname@example.org
