Amazing Autumn Courses this October Half-Term at MAC!

Here at MAC, our awesome autumn courses mean there’s lots of ways for children and families to get digital, get creative, get spooky, get writing, and get together this October half-term!

From digital music making sessions, to family print making classes, we guarantee there’s a little something for everyone.

Get digital

Digital Music Making for Children
Mon 28 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Children can learn how to create their very own bass-lines and beats and produce their first track! This fun, one-day workshop is designed for little ones to explore a range of creative activities including visual arts, crafts, digital media and performance.

Introduction to Digital Kids Club
Wed 30 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Always wondered how to work creatively with electronics? On this one-day course, kids will look at the principals of designing, coding and building digital art projects - there’s even a chance to get digital with microprocessors such as Arduino, micro:bits, Raspberry Pi and LED’s!

MAC Creative Camp: The Hills Are Shadows
Mon 28 Oct – Wed 30 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Children will explore the fantastical drawing exhibition created by international artists Jim Holyoak and Matt Shane, starting with private VIP tour of the exhibition with the Curator, and the opportunity to meet with the artists-in-residence.

MAC Creative Camp: Shoebox Stop Motion Animation
Mon 28 Oct – Thu 31 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Kids can create a short film from scratch using stop-frame animation techniques on this interactive course! Participants will watch and study a selection of fun animated films, come up with imaginative stories, build and animate sets and characters from different craft materials and then record the character’s voices to make them come alive!

Haunted MAC Drama Day
Thu 31 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Is MAC haunted? Using their imaginations, children will work together to create a dramatic spooky performance in a day, with supernatural spooks, creepy characters and spells to ward them off. Perfect for those with a passion for drama, fun games and performance.

Spooky Despicable Pottery
Tue 29 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
The ideal course for children that love Minions™ and Despicable Me™! Using colourful clay, participants will create inspired pottery with a spooky Halloween twist! With opportunities to discover hand building and coiling techniques, kids will create and then decorate despicable creations.

Pottery Haunted Houses
Wed 30 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Do your little ones love crafting and all things Halloween? During this one-day course children will learn how to make clay enchanted woodland fairies and gnomes or other magical themed pottery, including 3D haunted houses!

Rag Rugged Spiders, Spooks & Unicorns
Thu 31 Oct | 10am - 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Spooktacular spiders, unicorns or ghostly wall hangings will be created in this one-day course, where participants can learn the basics of rag rugging! The perfect way to get arty this Halloween.

Magical Puppets
Fri 1 Nov | 10am - 3pm| Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Children can make their own magical puppets such as fairies, elves, witches or warlocks and bring their puppets to life through the wonderful art of puppetry in this fun one-day course. Whether it’s fairies and elves or witches and warlocks they wish to create, children will be given the opportunity to use their imagination as they please!

Creative Writing for Young People
Tue 29 Oct | 1:30pm - 3pm | Ages 11 - 17 | All Levels
Ideal for ages 11-17, this inspiring course is ideal for young people who would like to learn top techniques for creative writing, or simply build their experience and confidence! A great way to develop personal writing skills this October half term.

Zine Making for Kids
Wed 30 Oct – Thu 2 Jan | 10am – 3pm | Ages 6 – 11 | All Levels
Do your children love superheroes? Music? Animals? Whatever it is, little ones can make a zine to show their appreciation in this fun one-day workshop!

Family Print Making
Tue 29 Oct | 10am – 3pm | All Ages | All Levels
As a family, learn about different artists and how to use a range of printmaking techniques to create your own masterpiece. This fun session is a great way for families to spend time together making and creating this half term!

Family Make a Bat Detector & Go on a Batwalk
Thu 31 Oct | 10am – 3pm | Ages 6 - 13 | All Levels
Love bats? Design, code, build and decorate your own electronic bat detector then put it to the test with a special bat walk in Cannon Hill Park on Halloween! This course is specially designed for families so that you can learn about the wonderful world of electronics and British wildlife together.

Make a Lightning LED T-Shirt
Thu 31 Oct | 10am – 3pm | Ages 6 - 11 | All Levels
Learn how to screen-print a lightning strike on to a t-shirt and make it light up with conductive materials and LED lights! As a family, you’ll work on creating an amazing product together, using hand-cut stencils, connective thread and fabric.

Saturday Family Brick Challenge
Sat 26 Oct | 10am – 12pm | Ages 5 - 12 | All Levels
Join tutor Milan for a variety of brick-based challenges in our new Family Brick Challenge course! Pit yourself up against the best with world record attempts, individual against-the-clock challenges and team-based Ultimate Final Builds inspired by his experience auditioning for the TV Show Lego® Masters!
