Sam McPherson (AKA Maverick Sounds) is an artist, a rapper and an audio engineer. He is also a music facilitator and has recently been involved in our partnership project with Solihull Youth Offending Service. Sam worked with three young people identified by Solihull YOS and met with them individually over nine weeks to help them write and record their own tracks.
In this recorded conversation he shares his experiences of working with some of the hardest to reach to young people in the area. He talks about the profound impact that music and lyric-writing can have on their lives; not only as a process of self-reflection, but also as an opportunity for these young men to express their vulnerability and become positive role-models by sharing their music with their peers.
