On Sunday 17 July, the West Midlands Inclusive Choir did their biggest performance yet - on stage at Birmingham Symphony Hall as part of the Services for Education Summer Youth Proms. It was an extra special occasion that brought together all five areas of the West Midlands Inclusive Choir in this prestigious concert hall, an icon of Birmingham city centre.
It was an absolute honour to be a part of Sunday’s performance. Performing call and response singing with a member with PMLD on the Symphony Hall stage which resulted in the audience cheering and applauding summed up why I do this job and why Soundabout, MAC Makes Music and Services for Education play such a huge role in promoting inclusive music making. The best thing was, the audience were completely on our side, they totally got it and invested in what was being achieved.
- Emily Tully, Choir Leader
Here's a video of their version of ‘It’s Alright’, from Disney’s Soul. We want to say a huge well done to everyone who got up on stage, all the staff and volunteers working behind the scenes, our partners Soundabout, and of course the fantastic audience who supported these wonderful vocalists.
